@darius @dajb Consensus is the hard way to get things done in groups, but it's the right and ethical way to make decisions about defederation and overall instance policies.

@WanderingBeekeeper @darius You can't do consensus with hundreds of people. You just can't.

A vote, sure, but you'd have to endure the thresholds involved (unlike the Brexit vote, for example) are decided beforehand for different matters.

Consent is a much better process, but even that can be problematic at scale as one person can potentially block the whole thing.

That's why I think we need to get better at this kind of thing and investigate further. I'm sure there's prior art.
