In case you missed it, you do not need to use the official Mastodon app! Third party Mastodon apps tend to have more features, and many people prefer them.

Mastodon uses free open source technical standards, so all apps have equal access to all of Mastodon's features.

There are lots of third party Mastodon apps, here are a few examples to get you started:

:android: If you're on Android, try Tusky, Fedilab or Tooot

:apple_inc: If you're on iPhone/iPad, try Toot!, Ice Cubes or Ivory

@feditips I've tried Tusky, Megalodon, and Tooot. Maybe it's a comfort thing because it's what I'm used to, but I definitely like Tusky the best.

I use Metext for iOS. It's free. It has all the feaures I need and doesn't freeze like the Mastodon app does. I'm going to look into the iOS apps you mentioned,, so thank you for posting.

@feditips In my opinion, I think Moshidon is recommendable. Because, it has Material You support that's why it looks coherent with the stock Android and it has smooth UX.

Using fedilab on Android and metatext on ipad. Though metatext didn't let me boost a toot earlier. So I may try one of those three you mentioned for ipad
