marks a global turning point.

We now have a global consensus on accelerating the transition away from fossil fuels this decade.

This comes after delegates from some 200 countries were engaged in climate change negotiations for a fortnight.

What else was achieved at COP28, and how did the ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ team push for more international climate action?

@EU_Commission A yes, a global consensus. Not a global directive or at least a consensus on phasing out fossils, just "accelerating the transition".

This toot, as it stands, could be a placeholder for literally every COP until now. The passages that were important, namely about phasing out fossils fast, were removed because you buffoons allowed a freaking OIL state to host this. How does this lip service change anything?

@EU_Commission I am sorry: Facing the urgency of #climateaction this article is a kind of greenwashing of the weak results of this conference. Its a shame what writers on behalf of the EC produced here!

@EU_Commission

How are you planning on "phasing out" fossil fuels by extracting more oil & gas?

Has someone at #COP28 got the basic math incorrect?

Are fossil fuel subsidiaries going to be "phased out"?

Are farming for meat & dairy subsidiaries going to be "phased out"?

Does the EU have any involvement in the criminal idea of turning plastics into fuel? (Why do industries think up more ways to cause more air pollution?) #money
