Posting locally on Mastodonapp.uk would be a Brit audience but I'd miss out on toot.wales & mastodon.scots etc

Local posting to me resonates with very specific interest, or family, or company servers. Choosing just 1 server though, or running multiple accounts.

Where as an actual group, open or closed, in a subreddit sense, would seem a lot more functional, as you can belong to several.

More of a use perspective than data safety perspective I know.

@ArtBear @thenexusofprivacy @jerry yes but if I am in a group and there are 10 people from 10 servers in the group my privacy is only as good as the weakest link. Keeping things to a specific server with a single ToS and code of conduct and operating under a single legal regime is simpler and I think safer, though I acknowledge what you're saying is more useful
