New people! Here's how to fill your timeline:

-Follow hashtags if your server supports it. You can do this by logging in through the website, searching for a tag, then clicking the + in the top right corner. New posts with those tags will appear in your timeline.

-Find interesting people on directories:
fedi.directory
communitywiki.org/trunk
fediverse.info/explore/people

-On the official Masto app, click 🔍 and browse the trending posts, tags and Community

-On the website, click Explore

Another tip I'd give new people:
If you find an interesting account go ahead and read though all their old posts, because that shit is not coming up again unless someone boosts it. The lack of search and algorithms means once something moves off the timeline it's kinda gone unless you boost it, it won't just pop up again.

Even if the server doesn't support following hashtags, you can use the Advanced view to pin a hashtag, which is similar!

I was already using that feature on Pixelfed and it never occurred to me to try it here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
