There are three ways to post GIFs on here:

- Upload a GIF file as an attachment, which works just like attaching an image. On most Mastodon servers the file can be up to 8 megabytes.

OR

- Post a link to the GIF from an external service like Giphy etc. GIF links will be automatically embedded as the GIF itself.

OR

- Some mobile apps & keyboards have a built-in GIF picker.

GIFs may or may not play automatically, depending on the settings of people viewing your post.

@feditips Asking to see if I'm right:
Posting a link doesn't upload the actual GIF to my instance? And that's better for the instance because it saves storage?

The downsides would be that some apps will only show the link. And the GIF could disappear if the external source fails.

@feditips Genuinely curious, is there a way to see the rest of my folders when uploading a photo from Android? I currently only see default folders such as camera, pictures, downloads. Loving the platform otherwise!
