@Janetgunter I hear what you say, but if you look at the current effort as a moderately cost effective way to shave the peak AND a stealth education campaign then maybe it is better?

@Janetgunter I'm puzzled as to what point you're trying to make. What exactly is your criticism of this method as one of many approaches we need to take to limit the current crisis we face?

@Janetgunter that's an excellent post, with some useful ideas.
But, I think I slightly disagree with one aspect you've mentioned.
We've had decades of trying to instill energy literacy. Huge campaigns about LED bulbs and A-rated appliances have all helped. And, as a consequence, domestic usage is down.
I see paying people to shed load as a better alternative to charging variable prices throughout the day.
But very interested to see how this all develops.
