@dansup Not many people have their ego sufficiently in check to be able to publicly say “this idea I had was the wrong one”. Good job.

@dansup perhaps some kind of instance reputation? Been in use for years for mail servers so a lot of problems have likely been addressed already.

@dansup is bet a simple statistical approach could go a long way.

MAU/total user ratio would reveal a lot of the outliers I suspect. Especially if there are quick changes to this ratio over a day or week or so.
