If you want your account and posts to be discovered more easily:

1. Opt into full text search (here's how: fedi.tips/how-do-i-opt-into-or)
2. Use hashtags in posts
3. Fill in your profile, include relevant words in the text. Profile text is searchable now.
4. If you have a website include it in profile with https:// at the start of address
5. Verify website link so people know it's yours (here's how: fedi.tips/how-do-i-verify-my-a)
6. Write introductory post & pin it (here's how: fedi.tips/how-do-i-pin-my-post)

@feditips I've seen people write much longer posts than I seem to be able to do. How do you do that? I only seem to be able to write a few paragraphs. Thanks!

So I have created bots for my scientific community on Mastodon, @flypapers e.g, and made efforts so they toot with #hashtags which are specific of each toot, so people could follow their favourite science hashtag rather than whole bot... but botsin.space has recently stopped allowing them to be public toots so as not to flood timelines, and learned societies which have servers tell me they'd also have to do so if I migrated bot to them.
