@EU_Commission A very important moment in history. The younger often fail to understand that 70 years of peace in Western Europe has never happened before, and this peace period is the direct consequence of the European treaties that formed what we call the EU today.

@EU_Commission I remember that moment. I was 10 years old at the time, and I was living about an hour from Verdun. I didn't understand quite yet why it was a big deal, but I could feel that it was. Against all the rigid formal protocol for interactions between heads of state, that minute felt surprisingly human.
