My horoscope said not to wax nostalgic, but I couldn't help reminiscing about the ancient Usenet custom of weekly FAQ postings. Perhaps this might be something that could be built into the #Fediverse servers; they have their info page on the node home, but who ever goes there twice? Or perhaps start folks out subscribed to the node's welcome channel that would send a timed series; once up to speed, folks just unsub!

Thanks for all the useful links. A friend of mine also linked me to this useful instance search engine by @ayushsharma22

If you haven't already, you may want to add it to future tips.

@feditips why is there no top level sports category? You're leaving out a gigantic demographic.

FediTips has moved!

If you're wanting a simple quick way to explain how Mastodon works, there's an official animation from a few years ago which goes over the general principles. Here's a copy of it someone uploaded to the Fediverse:

tilvids.com/w/hRzMpJwSkqEK3ZTN

The original video is on YouTube if you prefer that:

youtube.com/watch?v=IPSbNdBmWK

The principles explained in the video also apply to the whole Fediverse that Mastodon is part of: many servers talking to each other to form a single network.
