@withaveeay There was. I was in Findhorn and Nairn for it. Quite a good one. Went right overhead. Teriffic downpours. Funky clouds. Etc. :D

With very little of the day left spare, I made a beeline for the nearest bit of the Highlands.
Needed that.

Explorations off the Sma' Glen.

@real_jamescain Each to their own. Buy whatever lens gets the jobs you want to do, done.

I'm a Fuji 3-zooms person as well. f/2.8 is adequate even in "low" light.
Tried to be a primes-based landscapie about 5yr ago and lasted 2 months before going straight back to zooms.

A favoured youtube channel ("The Shear Zone" by Rob Butler, Uni of Aberdeen).
A favoured place in the north-west.
Forensic geology, studying the site of a meteorite impact crater 1.2bn yr ago.

Interest: piqued.
I am *so* going exploring next time I'm in the area.

Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold

An amazing atmosphere - shades of green and white - distant Scots Pine trees standing majestic and tall through the thick morning mist billowing around - I think the distant slopes of Creag na Callich or Creag Fhearchair.

@withaveeay @mookie @vmstan We still have the remains of the GDPR, which means
1) they have to use the least personal data possible
2) they have to detail what personal data they use, for why and for how long.

Having DDG'd their privacy policy document, octopus.energy/policies/privac does not list gender as one of the things slurped, therefore they're in breach of the GDPR.

Many thanks to everyone who's liked, boosted and commented on that. Over 200 favourites (and counting!) makes it my most popular post by miles. Appreciated :)

@ScottishGreens The tech might be great and the idea desirable, but you *have* to think how you funnel people in towards them.

My gas boiler died 6yr ago. Within 10mins I was onto the Worcester-Bosch site, clicked a few buttons and had several local fitters beating a path to my door within a couple of days..

Currently all mentions of grants shift the effort onto customers - homeenergyscotland.org/funding says I need a cuppa + 45mins + work it out myself.

I wonder why it isn't happening??

In the Woods

"There's a nice track over the other side of the road going up the hillside. I wonder where it goes?"
An hour and quarter of the way up The Cobbler later, I'd exceeded the step-count for the day.
This little scene caught my eye - particularly the hints of light in the needles of the trees and brighter splash of light in the yellow moss undergrowth.

Moody & atmospheric.

Autumn morning at the Nice Place™

A couple of photos from a year ago - a Scots Pine tree at sunrise and a birch among aspens (? I think).

Aurora, Edinburgh

Sometimes you just gotta sit on a bench beside the Observatory, eating fish & chips from a favoured chippy (Stefano's on Morningside Road) in a chilly -1ºC under light of a full moon whilst watching the remains of an aurora display as Orion rises.

Fuji X-H2, 8-16mm @ 10mm, a 3-frame vertorama processed in DxO, Hugin and LuminarAI.
