Akkk. I just realized I missed your conference on moderation. (I suppose I'm addicted to those reminder mails. Did I just miss it?)
Might there be a transcript out or pending?

@Gargron @parkermolloy's post on host.news proves how seductive simple text attributes are to many users. Whether for them, bold and italic fonts are worth enduring 15 more years of centralized silos, corporate hegemonists, and Elon Musk-style tyranny, when we now have a clear alternative, remains to be seen.
But if you have plans to support attributes on Masto, this would be a good time to announce it :)

@Gargron A fine compromise. My bet? After 6 months, not even 5% will opt-out, and that number will shrink quickly as people realize that much of the "abuse" was never a real issue (the moderation was). But your better reason, imo, that it promoted a lesser kind of engagement, may still prove accurate. I personally doubt it, but it might. Either way, it will be what it will. Time will tell. Thanks for revisiting it.

@Gargron All thanks to your hard work. But as I think you yourself said once somewhere, it has to now evolve beyond your vision, so it doesn't succumb to the same monovision and monocultural fails that impacted Twitter.

@Gargron Respectfully, that feels as if it's based on a very early perception of quoting. It's now mostly used for highlighting and previewing something we want to talk about or comment about which the follower can see adjacent to your remark at a glance. And the engagement they generate is are far larger than mere replies, likes or RTs of something (which are not visible to the follower unless they focus to inspect them).

@Gargron But quoting IS replying. It's simply including the thing being referred to so people don't have to seek it. A bare reply is often ignored. If someone wants to abuse, they will, but I've never see it done by serious people. Perhaps we can have this debate on a #tag to see my point. I'm fairly confident most Twitter alums will agree.

@darius I'm excited about being there. Have you held an event like this since the Muskpocalypse began? I bet at least a couple of dozen in my graph alone will be there. Thanks for doing it!

@feditips Am I correct in assuming a list can only be opened in the far left, multi-function viewer column? Is here no way to move the open list to a column, as I do in tweetdeck every day?

@Gargron As someone who has endured this blowhard's conspiracy theories for years (debunking many of them), he will get traction for this. His gullible stans are legion. You may want to officially respond via Medium or some other venue. The fact that it's not even your domain, should make him look appropriately ridiculous. He is flat-out defaming you and the entire network. You may even want to consult with your attorney.

It’s absolutely their right and choice, but this is very commercial pricing. I wonder how it will hold up after federation and more implementations. I want to see entry level community pricing for these kinds of products. cc @atomicpoet.
