@VictorVenema

I know - and agree to the letter. (Still looking for a platform to replace my old blog.)

@VictorVenema

On Twitter, you can/may brag about your paper. I hope, here - for all the brevity of toots - some real discussions will take place, beyond the mere "I am right and you are wrong".

ah, the issue is not technical and not social. It is juridical by nature.

See, bloggers addressing the audience in a given language, in my case German, are bound to local copyright laws. Which, in the case of Germany, is totally screwed, right now. A violation might be a typo when posting a figure with a CC licence (hence totally rightful) and still, due to the typo, you receive a warning and have to pay legal fees - regardless of your server side.

right, scienceblogs.de is closing down - see my article there: scienceblogs.de/rupture-de-cat

with respect to VG-Wort: yep, enough to pay a yearly ice cream super session with my son.

There are alternatives - I am still sorting them out.

Link as posted.

With regard to money: Well, I/we have no figures. Yet, there has been no administration of the server (had to be bought on a case by case basis), there have been fees for old, imported figures (I have no info about more current infringements), and of course people were using ad blockers, because the site for all its flickering ads, was hardly readable at times.

Basically, apart from rumours, no hard data.

the platform itself was in the red. Which are the major causes is effectively unknown, due to the lack of figures.

To combine efforts is a jolly good idea!
