@darius yeah between that, the changes to /about, breaking middle-click and getting rid of dedicated pages for posts and accounts, hiding server stats... There's a lot of important info I relied on as a user and admin that's just gone or broken in v4.

@darius I mean tbh I should just reconfigure my life around cooking middle eastern & north african food every day from now on, I adore the flavors. It's just a time thing, and trying to find the ingredients as an unsavvy white boy in a middling Midwest town

@darius Yeah that's a great way to put it. Feels like someone got super excited about A Unified Interface and forgot that different tasks & contexts might be better served by different layouts.

@darius @jume We've got ~800 MAU right now and I think we're probably gonna be a fair bit over 200/mo, just cuz of legal/corp stuff. Hosting alone, probably ~100/mo, but that's not counting, low six figures worth of my time in the last year, if I were to charge what I charge my clients.

@darius Not really sure! I think they may actually be talking about if I wanted to *operate* a crowdfunding site, rather than *use* one. Same goes for Patreon--we gotta get Stripe or Paypal set up first. Can't wait to get banned when they find out we're gaaaaay.

@dansup ooof yeah. I've heard similar issues at smaller scale with mastodon.social sending a constant stream of delete activities. Is this... something AP can fix at the protocol level in a future revision?

@darius @jume That's good to know! One of the things I'm trying to do this month (once I get our LLC set up) is figure out how we're actually going to take donations. Libera.pay and the other crowdfunding mechanisms seem to use Stripe for processing, but Stripe's ToS say you need special approval to use it for crowdfunding and their sales team won't get back to me. :-/

I am begging software projects to release programs as tarballs or plain old static binaries. I don't know what a Helm chart is. I am not installing an entire Kubernetes cluster. Docker breaks LXC and firewalls and is constantly breaking for mysterious reasons. I would rather submit myself to hours of `./configure && make && make install` frustration than try to hack through the endless hellscape of containerized deployment systems.

Am informed that closet construction starts tomorrow. Holy shit it's finally happening. I talked through the plans with the crew and they seem to think it's reasonable. I gotta build a demonstration model of the joinery tonight so I can show them tomorrow how it's gonna work, and start planing the boards to final thickness pronto.

@darius This is Smitten Kitchen's cinnamon twists. A bit finicky but a real winner.
