We need hardware-cryptographically-sign d photos and metadata.

The difference is astonishing! It honestly looks like there's less sand on the rocks in your processed version.

That was bloody chilling.
I had forgotten about Hitler's big lie re: Weimar illegitimacy.
The author's words at the end:
"America is not Weimar, Trump is not Hitler, Republicans are not Nazis," brings little comfort (although possibly perform an important pedagogic function), particularly when followed with the words, "yet the fate of this republic hangs in the balance."
😓

And yet everyone's pretending that it's just a matter of "politics" and we should all be polite and hush-hush.
It's rough knowing that there's basically nothing you can do.

@65dBnoise
Man, I think about WWII Germany a lot these days.
Five years ago, I took a graduate class on the Weimar era, with a partial focus on how #Nazi culture slowly crept in.
I still don't understand a lot of it. The terrible thing is that I went into that class determined NOT to see any parallelsin modern American/Western culture, and now it's terrifyingly all around me.
It blows my mind even more how churches become breeding grounds for extremist ideologies. 😓

Not to be nitpicky, but by exaggerated, did you mean exacerbated?
But yeah, this is a YUUUUGE problem!
Kind of sucks living in a post-truth, post-reality culture.
I think possibly very strong education and instilling some basic ACTUAL critical thinking is a possible solution.
Instead of training every child as a future laborer, train them all as future information workers and (*shudder*) psy-operatives???

Hey Dan,
I was wondering if you're familiar with Casey Neistat's failed social network Beme.
I was on it at the time, and I always found the emphasis on authenticity hugely inspiring, and I shared far more on it than I ever did on instagram.
Not sure what your vision for loops is, but I'm sure it'll be awesome. I just wanted to leave this with you to see if you get anything out of it:

Just as a suggestion, you might want to add a blurb in the readme (https://github.com/pixelfed/mobile-app/blob/main/README.md?plain=1) to let folks know that a FOSS release is coming, and why it isn't FOSS yet.

True, but I'm not sure what else it could mean.
As with anything else, greater discoverability is a two-edged sword.
If you can opt out of having your profile searched, or your toots searched *without* having to make your toots/profile more restricted/private than they are today, I'd call it well-implemented and won't worry about it.
If not... then not so much. :/
