Servers each have their own rules about what is allowed, what their atmosphere is like, what kind of people they are aimed at etc.

I don't think well-run servers would agree to it if they were assigned users at random by an outside authority.

@feditips @Mmwatson so in fact it actually matters quite a lot what server you are on… which is part of the problem users are having. That and all the weird problems with finding people or people having the same username on different servers.
