Pictures and videos should now be loading fast again on mastodon.social. The load balancer was hitting the limits of its hardware too so I had to upgrade it

@Gargron What kind of user base size are you looking at on that server?

Plus, should it ever been automatically imposed, that no new users can sign up to a server after a certain threshold reached? To avoid a single server being too dominant?

Also, user accounts on servers, auto delete themselves after a time to free up space?

@Gargron Whoa! I must say, Mastodon scaled up well with unanticipated surge of users. While the response was slow, as an user I didn’t see any availability drop. Curious to see how it scales up further to reduce perceived user latency.

@Gargron I would migrate off to a less populous instance but it would be a bit sad to lose my early posts (granted they're mostly tiny anyway).

What's the technical limitation that stops them from being movable?
