Pixelfed is heavily inspired by Instagram, and that's okay

People like familiarity, and it's not like IG hasn't copied other platforms/features like Snapchat Stories

App developers can use Pixelfed to build unique experiences that are nothing like IG, such as @vernissage

Power to the people, and (open) platforms, we're building the future of social media πŸš€

@dansup @vernissage this disconnect continues …

in all of its forms, past and present, PixelFed has looked *monumentally* better than Instagram in every sense I can think of. and it’s certainly been leagues more *usable* since day one.

@dansup @vernissage it's 1000 times better because my feed isn't full of stupid ads, sponsored posts, and it doesn't stalk me online. Instagram used to be my favorite social media app before Facebook ruined it. Pixelfed is great and I like that it's similar to pre Facebook Instagram.

@dansup I love the fact it looks and acts like Instagram did when instagram was good and fun to use. To say it looks and feels like it now is ridiculous though - instagram is currently unuseable. Long live #PixelFed πŸ˜€

@dansup Having said that; can we expect a new #Android build soon, with the new goodies? It's been quite a while now... 😏 #Pixelfedapp

@dansup i'm 100% looking forward to getting Stories on pixelfed, but i would like to highlight this issue that is preventing me (and a number of others as far as i can tell) from using pixelfed on Android, when i really want to. i'm not expecting an immediate fix for this, but i'd hope that it's in the cards. home.social/@irfanhakim/109970
