p.p.p.s As @jan points out, there are also online ordering services which help to support indie shops at bookshop.org and hive.co.uk

The indie shops will get more if you order direct from them, but these online options at least give indie shops some support.

@feditips @jan Bookshop.org is great. I order from them all the time. When I do, City Lights in San Francisco always gets a cut of the action.

@feditips @jan Yes! Also, for used books, Biblio is the best non-Amazon owned aggregator. biblio.com/company/about-bibli

@feditips @jan there are also independent bookshops that have their own online ordering systems - mystgalaxy.com and warwicks.com are favorites because they’re both awesome and also local (I’ll frequently use the website to check inventory before going to get something).

@feditips @jan I just wish there was a way to order digital books and support an indie bookstore. Used to be MyMustReads would do that (the app sucked, but it was worth it to support local business), but they got bought out by Kobo/Rakuten, the Japanese Amazon.

Any alternatives for bookshop.org and hive that work for mainland Europe? Seems they only ship for UK :(
