@dansup It's called "federation" for a reason, we should be open and welcoming to *anyone* who behaves.

@dansup @pixelfed remove it temporary until threads.net is 100% federated

@dansup I think it's okay to keep it, but maybe add a filter. Like `?exclude=threads.net`

@dansup noooo pls, i like to see if big accounts joined in and this is the only place i can see it (maybe put a filter activated by default)

@dansup just a thought, but what if only include threads accounts that HAVE federated?

@dansup Instagram accounts are part of federation now

@dansup@mastodon.social would be great if there could be a way to filter the list so you could see a list without threads but also a list that only has threads accounts.

The latter would be very useful for finding new accounts to follow from Threads. If it was a general filter for any domain it would probably be interesting and potentially useful too, someone might want to find good pixelfed accounts to follow etc.

@dansup "Popular" means "popular" right?

@dansup
Include the accounts which can be followed.

@dansup yeah I’d prefer default-hidden but still available with a toggle.

Is there any hope of ever having data on how many *fediverse* follows a Threads account has?

@dansup Yeah, I just posted about this on @darnell@darnell.day!

You can “roughly” estimate how many Fediverse followers a Threads account has (outside of Threads itself), but they need to provide more transparent stats, similar to what Flipboard does.

I will submit a request to them to offer this stat on people’s profiles.

@dansup @darnell maybe just have a toggle? "Hide accounts misreporting Fediverse follows"

@dansup The simple existence of threads is an insult to the fediverse, you should remove it definitely.

@dansup Why not make this a toggle and allow users to pick?

@dansup I've supported a "wait and see" approach to Facebook (by whatever name) on the Fedi: Wait and see if they ever decide to start acting decent, and *then* think about whether or not to federate with them. Don't hold your breath waiting. They're proven hostile.

If you could tease apart how many of the followers are non-federating and exclude them from the count, then go for it, but IMHO that's far more effort than Facebook deserves.
