@atommac @msh there's not really a solution for that either that does not ultimately rely on centralization.

for example I could set up some kind of math-heavy blockchain verification service. it would still need a name and a website. I could spoof those. The "solution" would be Mastodon only trusting that service and doing stuff on the backend to ensure that. that's recentralization.

it's basically part and parcel of the tradeoff for decentralized architecture
