It's still really hard to justify this when I lost nearly all the people I talked to on signal after you dropped SMS support. I know there are tons of people that don't get it but the biggest sell to "normal Americans" was that they could have a single app that did both.... As soon as they had to use 2 apps (one for signal and one for SMS/RCS) they left Signal. As you said - a messenger only matters if you have people using them.
