@feditips I was wondering about the section about finding people to follow where you suggest searching. Sometimes I'll go and search on a bigger server (usually mastodon.social) so I find new people not on my own, small, server. I don't know if there's a way to add something like that without losing the lovely clear and simple language you use though.

@feditips

I would add hiding boosts as an option.

For anyone in the #dotNet #dotNetMAUI world I already have a thread with people/bots/hashtags to follow to get more dotnet content into your feed. dotnet.social/@SmartmanApps/11

@feditips And if you're on 4.2 try search. It works wonderfully well. Also opt into search. You're not supporting surveillance capitalism if you do, you're just making it easier for everyone here to discover your content.

Here's my secret method:

Go to the search icon at the bottom.

Now you have choices of: posts, hashtags, news, local, and for you.

Click on local.

My local is packed out with people speaking in nine different languages. It doesn't seem to be very local at all, and I am instantly reminded that there are Mastodonians from all over the world.

In among the languages I don't speak, there's an eclectic selection of English speakers.

I don't do it too often, but I enjoy it there.

@feditips Know you of a tool to sort by recent activity, i.e. downrank search results if someone hasn't posted in [timeframe]? Thank you!

@feditips my favorite way to find new accounts since I first started on liveJournal many years ago is to look at accounts that interesting people follow.
