@dansup how will pixelfed.art hold reliable for the foreseeable future? (like covering expenses) and does this instance try to provide something that other community instances can't?

Where will pixelfed.art be in 5 years?

And why is it pixelfed.art and not like "artstation.com" for example?

I'm asking as these are questions I wonder as an artist and that likely other artists will wonder about it, if they're considering this platform for their business.

@cbt 1) It's an official instance, and is funded by our patreon/open collective (and my own pocket if needed)

2) The instance provides a good home for artists who want to share more than 4 images at a time, or maybe share a collection or curate their portfolio

3) Pixelfed.art will still be around in 5 years, just look at pixelfed.social

4) Not sure what artstation.com has anything to do with this, having another choice is healthy
