@Mastodon it was obvious that Threads will be a data kraken but I still enjoy that they are pushing the fediverse with their inclusion of pubsub.

I gave Threads a shot this morning and I must say for now the community is pretty nice and the overall simplicity of the app feels good.

As soon as Pubsub is integrated I'll make the switch completely to mastodon and follow people on Threads.

@Mastodon It would be nice if Mastodon would no longer use React or any other "Meta" code.

@Mastodon
Too good to be true.

Meta will kill Mastodon sucking his users, then put an electric wall around so they cant come back here even if they want.

They will use the anxiety and fear of people to loose contacts and content. They do it now.

The profiting of companies by illegally acquiring people's Metadata should be criminalized and this companies closed and owners fined.

They violate laws about privacy in the EU and they were fined.

Some of us will not go quietly.

@Mastodon Not a fan at all of the data #threads collects. Compared to #Mastadon, stay away from Threads IMO

@Mastodon community based or corporate based communication platform… I choose community based.

@Mastodon I haven't been following closely, but I don't get the vitriol towards #Threads. Assuming for the moment that they _will_ implement #ActivityPub, properly, then isn't that what we *wanted?* It will allow anyone on Threads to follow anyone on another #Fediverse instance and vice versa, and to port their account elsewhere if they want to.

I think it's possible that they believe they have to, to comply with the DSA. It seems premature to just assume they will be bad Fediverse citizens.

@Mastodon

"Embrace, extend, and extinguish" (EEE), also known as "embrace, extend, and exterminate", is a phrase that the US DOJ used to describe its strategy for entering product categories involving widely used standards, extending those standards with proprietary capabilities, and then using those differences in order to strongly disadvantage its competitors.

@Mastodon Printing out this whole post so I can reflect on it later, on the day I find out that Meta, on some future steering committee, or through some other influence, desires some changes to ActivityPub or UX that’s going to screw it up for all of the small instances. Feeling it in my bones mate. Meta can’t be trusted. Bubble ‘em.

@Mastodon what does it mean that Threads will be on the same infra and what are the implications for users?

Easier cross platform publishing and viewing of content?

>XMPP did not exist on its own outside of nerd circles, while ActivityPub enjoys the support and brand recognition of Mastodon.

People have already said similar about Mastodon. It could be stated like this in the future.
