There's a social reading platform called @bookwyrm which is an alternative to Amazon's Goodreads. BookWyrm is part of the Fediverse and BookWyrm accounts can be followed from Mastodon etc. You can find out more at:

Beyond the general Amazon thing, I have been using GR since before Amazon bought it, and it has never gotten any better. Time to move...

I have a question. I have created an account on bookwyrm.social (@richard.degenne) and I realized that the account also shows on Mastodon when searching for it.

Does that mean I could have logged in to Bookwyrm with my Mastodon account? Is there a way to merge the two, or to have my Bookwyrm posts show up on Mastodon?

I've understood the principle on federation across Mastodon instances, but it's still not clear how it works across different software.
