1160 yrs ago, Female-Muslim scholar Fatima al-Fihri founded the world’s 1st univ., University of al-Qarawiyyin in Morocco.

Prominent figures associated to the univ. incl. philosopher & mathematician Ibn Rushud, Ibn Khaldun historian, Al Idrissi geographer who drew land maps of the world, Pope Sylvester II who learnt Arabic numerals & took the knowledge to the Western hemisphere.

Today, visitor can tour the library & view its 4000+ orig. manuscripts, incl. Ibn Khaldun's famous work, Muqaddimah.
