The latest Mastodon update lets you follow hashtags. When you follow, posts with a tag appear in your timeline automatically.

Try following to make posts about gardening appear in your timeline.

This can be REALLY useful for discovering interesting accounts.

To follow a hashtag:
1. Log in through your server's website
2. Search for hashtag
3. Click it to see its results
4. Click on 👤+ icon in top right (click again to unfollow)

Posts from followed tags are visible in the apps too.

@feditips I really like this feature. The instance I'm on was running a release candidate for a while so I've been able to play around with it a bit already but... You kind of just have to remember what hashtags you are following? Is there an easier overview somewhere that I missed in case I want to prune my list or find gaps?

@feditips ok also I hope someone told @pburka that this is a strawberry tree, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arbutus_ Very comon street tree in California. The fruit is edible.
