@VictorVenema Having arrived about a day and a half ago, I certainly hope you're right. I do notice a lot of features that make good behaviour easier and bad behaviour harder—often little design details like seeing the CW button while posting.

But since we're all worried about losing our core Twitter network and trying to recreate it here, I feel there's a risk we end up only following Twitter people and don't encounter as much of the existing Mastodon culture as we might.

@timtfj That does not sound terrible to me. I guess the people you surrounded yourself with are good people. The terrible people on Twitter are the ones that jump in from the outside to derail a human conversation.

These new folks may have a higher percentage of people who see themselves as a brand to be sold,although likely they will move last. That is why I expect things to become a bit more like Twitter. But I do not think they will derail conversations given how Mastodon works.
