Push Notifications and Dark Mode are the last essential features in the @pixelfed app, and I'm working hard to ship them ASAP so we can finally release the app to the app stores.

Do you know what was the (well documented) feature of Instagram which propelled it to success before being acquired?
It seemed insta-nt. It did this by uploading your images while you were still playing with filters and writing titles and body text. You "never" needed to wait for upload to finish.
A lot of stuff, including Dark Mode, is very secondary compared to reducing the time people have to wait.

@dansup @pixelfed Thank you for your efforts, but if ActivityPub (Mastodont, Pixelfed and Loop etc.) is to be used by many and to use its potenzualities it must be Self-Hosted because of its open source nature. Therefore its installation and management, e.g., in #kdeplasma, etc. should be simplified. Also imagine an integration between #openstreetmap and #activity-pub , it would be a huge benefit for the open-source community 🌎🌍
