Today, Bulgaria and Romania join the Schengen family.

We welcome the lifting of internal air and sea border checks.

This is a great success for the people of both countries.

It also benefits millions of EU citizens across Europe.

Making the Schengen area even stronger.

@EU_Commission I’ll think about this next time I’m waiting at the border from Romania to Hungary. During holidays you can end up waiting 3 hours or longer. Also 1h wait on train travels. It’s one of the two reasons I don’t take the environmental friendly train when traveling to Romania.
