If you're wondering what the rainbow pentagon thing is that a lot of accounts use, it's the Fediverse logo

It's a public domain / CC0 design, its original designer shared a high quality copy at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fediverse_logo_proposal.svg

It represents all the different server types that make up the Fediverse (https://fedi.tips/what-other-kinds-of-servers-are-on-the-fediverse/)

(Note: There can be no official logo on the Fediverse as there's no central authority to make anything official. However, this logo is by far the most widely used one.)

@feditips I dont know many logos that are worse than this thing. It looks like a selfmade kindergarden-photoshop-try.
Thats a shame an part oft the problem, why Mastodon (which has a good logo) is offen set equal whith the fediverse.

@feditips I love this. Being part of the #LGBTQ+ community I will always read that into anything with a spectrum of colours, regardless as to whether or not it was the designer's intention. In my eyes, this logo is wonderful - it has all the nodes connected to each other, all different but all equal and unified. It's perfect. It's why I love #Mastodon - and the instance I joined - so much. #MSTDN #mstdnca #MastodonCanada

I'm sorry, but this thing is so ugly. Too much going on, too many colors and doesn't scale well.
At least the Fedilab app lets you use a different logo for the app.

@feditips this shape has important mathematical significance, it is one of two Kurotowski subgraphs, which are the only two subgraphs that cannot be rendered in 2-D without overlapping connections.
