p.s. To clarify, the idea of "boosts appreciated" is if you have a post that you particularly want or need people to share.

So, for example, if you're trying to get advice on something really important, you might add "Boosts appreciated" at the end.

It's not meant to be used for shallow attention seeking.

@feditips
But technically you're saying it could be used for shallow attention seeking? Asking for a friend...

For me, it's usually enough that I @ someone related, and network effect shows itself.

A bit less judge-y, please.

I'm still relatively new here and I only started politely asking for boosts AFTER people who had been here much longer wrote that asking for it was not a bad idea, because a lot of people might need reminding that boosting was an option.

I'm perfectly fine with not asking but it's not as if it is easy to find the (correct) etiquette rules to this place...
... so why not start with the assumption that people here are of good will?

@feditips My favorite use case is getting more attention to polls that otherwise would see very few votes.

@feditips I don't think this boost emoji is available on mastodon social. But just wanna confirm as I have stuff I wanna be boosted. Don't reply if it doesn't exist after all...
