@feditips Hi there, I’ve got one that I’ve been Googling like mad but can’t find any discussion about: is it possible to embed remote images in posts/toots, such that the image source file itself remains on the remote site and is not actually uploaded to your own instance’s database…but the image still displays inline to the person reading the post rather than as a URL to be clicked into?

@feditips I'm struggling to figure out how to host mastodon on a port that's different than port 443

@feditips I can't figure out how to create a list of selected people I follow (like, just those who are interested in a specific topic). Sorry, couldn't find it in the tips site, but people keep saying it's possible.

@feditips I see some users with alts on the same instance, but I prefer to have my alts on different instances to be resistant to server downtime. Do you have any thoughts on the merits of each?

@feditips I understand that I don't _need_ multiple servers, but while Fosstodon is great for talking about Opennness, accessibility and genealogy, I now realise that I would also like to be part of a group that talks about people (particular focus on people with disabilities) and sustainability.
I think I have a different tone for the two types of conersations- current one is friendly and professional, the other is friendly and (non-party) poitical.

I a fairly generic server because my posts tend to be fairly random on a range of topics so didn't think I'd fit particularly in one of the more specific servers, but is there a way to show posts from other servers in my feed?

There's a few interesting looking servers that I'd quite like to get content from but I'm not sure if/how that works...
