Yes, I think these are already helping. Provide visual clues to UI navigation.

Was just looking at the source code browser and noticed the Unix file permission.. a perfect example of how you lose the average person.

@humanetech also these make no sense semantically, because Mercurial only tracks the executable bit. This might be an easy fix. @tyil @blacklight

@humanetech@mastodon.social @ArneBab@rollenspiel.social @blacklight@social.platypush.tech But the average person also doesn't care for free software, or efficient interfaces. Those were lost way before they got to Unix file permissions in a file tree. We already know where the road ends when you try to cater to the average person, rather than experienced developers with a passion for free software, and that's #Github and #Gitlab.
