@adamdavidson Hey, personally I see absolutely no reason to block your server or demand content warnings from you. Different folks have different expectations about what content they want to see, every user has the ability to block a domain for themselves and nobody is forced to follow anyone.

@Gargron @adamdavidson Thanks, that seems like the right approach.

@Gargron @adamdavidson Umm, maybe you could add a subtitle to the name: ‘not-Twitter?’

@Gargron @adamdavidson also correct me if I'm wrong here, but can you just put a #politics in a post and then if somebody has a filter filter #politics they wouldn't see it in the first place?

@Gargron @adamdavidson Maybe it would help If people could put a CW automaticaly on all Posts from a certain Server as an alternative to blocking or muting

@Gargron @adamdavidson I am SO glad to hear this. I read the rules on this server and didn't see anything about CW for politics. Thank you!

@adamdavidson

nor should "the boss" even be bothered with such basics, the community can discus and ride this out.

pleaseeeee, let's protect and help the admin and coders, stop being childisch, it's the #fediverse in a bubbeling internet.

how about being reasonable and acomódate?

and no, we have no benevolent dictator, code is law.

@adamdavidson @Gargron
You never look at the Federated timeline? Or the local one (boosts)?

@Gargron @adamdavidson @donmelton where this becomes tricky is boosts. Coupled with the lack of ability to quote-toot, this means if a journalist doesn’t have a uspol (e.g.) CW on their toot, and I want to boost it, *I* now can’t warn others either. They might follow me for cats, and now they get an abortion debate.

That’s why I indeed think “if it’s politics, it deserves a CW” is the better rule of thumb. Politics *can* be heavily uncomfortable for people for numerous people.

@Gargron

Thank you.

That was how I thought about it, too.

@Gargron @adamdavidson I think what Eugen said is ultimately right - no one is forcing us to put CWs on our posts.

Although people are also free to choose not to see news content with a CW opt-in choice. They are also free to block the individual users or the jorna.host domain as a whole, or admins can choose not to allow posts from this whole domain in their federated timeline.

Ultimately, if that happens, it will be users here that lose out on contact with those outside of this server.

@Gargron @adamdavidson I've been blocked by people before that I've never interacted with, or didn't recall interacting with.

I once thought that I should ask them why, but when it comes right down to it, it's not my business.

If an instance wants nothing to do with journa.host, I think maybe it's not the concern of journa.host what those reasons are for the most part.

Someone mentioned screenshot listicles, and I think I might support defederation should that become a thing.

Certainly testing and learning the ways of Mastodon myself, and for me the CW is like cooking with an apron: recommended but not always necessary, and since I don’t want stains, I’ll be reaching for it when i’m doubt 👨🏽‍🍳

CW aside, this is such a calm environment and that’s wildly refreshing 🧖🏽‍♂️

Thank You for taking us in 🤖

@adamdavidson @Gargron I respect other admin’s right to make their own decisions, but I agree with your thinking on this 👍

@Gargron @adamdavidson I'm glad that mods can block entire instances in extreme cases (room full of Nazis, for instance) but that power should be used very, very sparingly. Certainly I've seen nothing from @journo.host that could justify such an action.

I find all this discussions about content warnings a little much as well. Unfollowing or blocking a user should do the trick to get rid of unwanted stuff.

@Gargron @adamdavidson and if it’s strongly encouraged, wish there was a category drop list or something to make it easier.
