πŸ™Œ What do we want? πŸ™‹ green tourism
πŸ™Œ When do we want it? πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ Right now!

Tourism generates 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Through ecotourism, greener transportation, and conscious choices, we can all reduce our environmental footprint.

@EU_Commission SBB do indeed maintain a really high quality eco-friendly train network, but I'm not sure the Swiss would agree with you about the EU support part :-)

@EU_Commission@social.network.europa.eu I get that it is green, but beyond that, why does the picture for #Ecotourism show broccoli?

"As of 2023, commercial aviation fuel is currently tax exempt under the legislation of all member states of the European Union."

@EU_Commission this is good, but what can be done about the #French wasting letters? Their words are longer than they need to be.

@EU_Commission tax plane fuel, fund night train and it will improve.

Como que eu queria que o governo brasileiro pensasse assim. πŸ˜₯

AtΓ© agora zero incentivo ao transporte pΓΊblico e de qualidade. SΓ³ a mesma polΓtica privilegiando carros.

@EU_Commission (University of Cambridge researchers show how carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, can be captured from industry or the air. What's more amazing; it's then converted into clean, sustainable fuels using the power of the Sun. #GreenTech #SustainableFuture #WonderfulWorld)

@EU_Commission there's a problem with the prices of trains in #EU. While it is cheaper for a #family of four to get a #car and move around than using the #train, things won't change.

Hello @EU_Commission
I totally agree.
Are you sure that the first photo was taken in EU ?

@EU_Commission I love trains, advocate for trains, and travel by train whenever possible but omfg the EU needs to ensure there are a) more trains and b) that they're easier to book, especially between countries.

I recently planned a trip from Amsterdam to Switzerland and back it was so painful at almost every step of the booking process.

Great trip in the end, but it shouldn't be this hard!

@EU_Commission

I think we need to focus on the part that makes up a hell of a lot more than 8%

@EU_Commission just institute a carbon tax and internalize the negative externality like anybody who took econ 101 knows. this is embarrassing.

@EU_Commission interesting that you choose a Swiss train as an example. Tax plane fuels and support railway electrification and reactivation of lines.

@EU_Commission I would love to be able to travel between where I live (Denmark) and my home country (Portugal) by train. Not only would I get to see the sights of Europe, but I wouldn't have to take a plane.

However, the current state of train travel across countries in the eu is absolutely abysmal. We need better connected, affordable, high speed trains.

@EU_Commission Great! But everyone who already does cross border travel by train wishes it would be more convenient. I applaud the extra night train connections on existing rail, but I miss the opening or reopening of new cross border rail connections. I don’t expect grand HSR connections all across Europe, I do wish to see a lot more smaller extra cross border connections.

@EU_Commission so when will a European train operator start? Or are there other solutions in the pipeline to promote cross-nation train rides?
