Yeah, that's quite simple an idea for anyone willing to buy it.
Musk though is a smart guy. His goal is not to build a cheap android he knows he will not build in his lifetime, but to sell hope for a SciFi future in exchange for hard currency now, by hyping lame fantasies to those who believe him.

The articles you link to are just hype; no hard numbers at all. Machines (now called robots) have been in use in industry for centuries. Android AGI robots have not. Nor will they be soon.

@65dBnoise You might be right about Elon selling the idea to anyone willing to buy into it. Many manufacturing companies would easily replace workers with robots if the cost were not astronomical (hundreds of thousands of dollars or millions to replace one job a worker could easily do).

I was initially underwhelmed when I saw the Tesla bot until Elon talked about using it to replace workers (which is somewhat alarming).
