If you're a salesperson, and you approach me to try and sell me a psychological test, and I determine that you are a direct competitor, I WILL engage with you, pretend to be interested, and ask for as much proprietary information as possible, to use as competitive research.

It's not unethical - my LinkedIn is very clear about what I do for a living. If you don't do your homework on me first ... well ... consider this a learning opportunity for you.
