@mhoye oh hey. If you need it for code, this does not work, but if you need it for plain text or markdown, Typora is my favorite text editor. It works flawlessly cross platform, retains state flawlessly even after a hard reboot (though I've only ever had about ten files open). It is the most pleasant writing experience I've had on a computer. It is also my favorite non free software and it's a one time purchase (or the occasional re-purchase for major version upgrades).
