I know this is a lot to take in, but think of it this way:

What if you could follow Instagram and Twitch and YouTube accounts from within Twitter?

Well, that's exactly how the Fediverse works! Different platforms are open to each other instead of being closed off as "walled gardens".

It's not competition, it's co-operation. When one platform's userbase grows, so does the userbase of all the other platforms.

@feditips That sounds seamless and wonderful. However, when I try to look at and interact with accounts on other fediverse platforms, it opens in a new browser window and I'm asked to log in again - and when I do, I get an error message saying my email address or password are not valid. Is this a growing pains glitch, or am I doing something wrong / misunderstanding?

@feditips Still taking it all in, but the way very different platforms can be interconnected in a way that lets me interact in whatever way is best for me, well, that's incredibly awesome.
