Totally agree, ideally a Fedi link should somehow indicate that it's a Fedi link and should open the relevant app.

However, I am not a developer so I don't know how complicated this is to implement on a federated system?

By the way, I'm also trying to get people used to the idea that their identity on the Fedi can be expressed as an address that is easily shared with others.

Was thinking that people could exchange Fedi addresses the way they already exchange emails or phone numbers?

@FediFollows yeah, I like that idea. It is pretty close to an email address already, which many people can read. In the future fediverse I would imagine that servers announce the software listening via unique top level domains (think @user@social.mastodon and user@photos.pixelfed e.g.) so a browser and a human would easily know, what to open that link with. Not quite sure where to post that feature request though, and I‘m sure it creates problems I haven’t thought of. 😄
