The web version and the many apps made for Mastodon are somewhat frustrating to use.

The web version always shows the full profile with all the posts, but it's not easy to reply to posts or follow users that are on another instance.

In the apps, it's the other way around. Profiles and posts are not fully loaded, but it's easier to reply and follow.

I've discovered the browser extension Graze (social.jaredzimmerman.com/@jar) that at least makes following, boosting and favoriting easier.

Still seems way too hard. For example, finding someone interesting to follow is a 10 step process to drill down into categories, look at each person's description, select Follow, and log into their Mastodon site (which regularly errors out). Twitter and other social sites suggest new people based on user activity -- one click and you're following.
