p.s. There are LOTS of apps that work with 2FA on Mastodon such as Raivo, Aegis and many others. (They are technically known as "TOTP apps" or "authenticators")

Maybe people can recommend good 2FA apps in the replies?

@feditips #raivo is a great option for #iOS. Lightweight, open source, and easy to use! raivo-otp.com/

I am using #Authy to keep my 2FA codes synced across devices. Remember: You will lose access yourself if you had your 2FA codes on just one device in a non-synced app when losing this device.

@feditips I've been a 1Password user for ages, and find it covers all of my security needs. 2FA authentication is just one of the features it offers.

@feditips I have had enormous success with YubiKey. I am not affiliated with them in any way.

They offer FIDO U2F compliant keys with a lot of features. My primary keys are 5C NFC and work with my iPhone and Macbook. The greatness of what YubiKey created is that the key itself is where the info is stored, not the app like Google/MS. Using my pw-manager (Bitwarden) to store the QR codes allows me to recreate a key if I loose mine, or create a backup key. yubico.com/

@feditips I use 1Password which has built in support for 2FA and auto-fills the field.

@feditips I am using Microsoft Authenticator (Android) and I am pretty happy with the thing. Over time it worked well for a lot of things non-Microsoft that I needed 2FA for. HTH.

For me it was Authy, but now it’s iCloud Keychain.

iCloud Keychain is easy to trust and already wonderfully straightforward.
It works with every important operating system and I’m just hoping they take it even further by breaking it out into its own app and adding a few features that are currently absent.

@feditips If you're an Android user I highly recommend Aegis!

@feditips
It's definitely not FOSS but Microsoft's Authenticator works solidly on Android.

I'll probably have a look at some of the others mentioned in the thread though :)
