@Gargron
> As a non-native speaker I had no idea there was another meaning.
The infamous other meaning of "toot" is very specific to US English. Like calling a tap a "faucet". As used in England, and thus in Aotearoa, a toot is the blowing of a horn (eg tooting at someone when they cut you off in traffic). This always seemed very appropriate for posting on social media, regardless of the elephantine associations ;)

@feditips
This looks great, thanks so much for all the work you put in to the fediverse community. One little niggle, I think comparing Friendica to FB sets people up for disappointment when they try it, rather than allowing them to evaluate it on its own merits. Maybe there was more equivalence at one time, but these days neither the feature set nor the UI of FB is much like Friendica. It's more akin to a federated LiveJournal or WordPress.

'Publish' makes sense for Public posts. 'Share' would make more sense for Unlisted or Followers-only posts. 'Message' or somesuch would make more sense for Direct posts. If it could change like this, it could help guide people to make sure their posting level matches their intentions.

@humanetech
This very much depends on what is meant by "Enterprise version". If it's what they usually are, as I described above, there's no reason to think Gitea won't end up like GitLab. OTOH if it were a version designed for organizations with more complex needs and deeper pockets to pay hosting and sysadmin costs, but still free code, with a hosted offering to bring in revenue, it could be an alternative to looking for VC money. That's the pitch I'd make to Lunny.

@FediFollows Great stuff. Is there much overlap between what you do and what the Trunk folks do?

You are playing a huge and crucial role in making history. Thanks. As others have said, please remember to care for yourself too. You're worth it, and it's the only way you can sustain your capacity to work, let alone enjoy it.

"It’s a common question how this differs from hashtags. The difference is a hashtag is a passive tool, it helps you organize posts from within your existing network, while Guppe is an active tool, it actively distributes posts across the fediverse in order to help you grow your network."
Https://web.immers.space/2023/05/farewell-to-guppe
Could this be the basis of an opt-in way of doing search in the fediverse?
