I agree with you Victor.

I wonder if some people are not aware of the malevolence of hard core climate science deniers. How they have contributed to the situation we're in today - and for so many tomorrows.

It's like how the pandemic deniers contributed to the deaths of so many people, except activist climate science deniers are orders of magnitude worse.

I wonder how much actual support there is for this, and how many users are opposed.

Is it coming from a huge majority or is it a minority (a loud minority)? If it's a minority, does the majority not care much, or is there a similar segment strongly opposed?

It's probably not something to be put to a vote. If people are opposed to toots being QT'd, I hope, at the least. it's possible to include "no QT's" and maybe "block QTs" as an option.

I get it and also see the difficulties, especially moderation but also translation for other people in the instance.

I wonder - if there are people who are put off joining @fediscience.org (or another Mastodon instance) by not being permitted to toot in a language of their choice, another option maybe to urge/petition DeepL to work on adding it to their languages.

That sounds like a great start. The world has lost and is still losing too many languages and the cultures that go with them.

Thanks for this Victor. I confess I'm still finding my way around here. It's really nice to see so many people I know from elsewhere. Maybe I'll even get back to climate blogging soon-ish :D
