@dansup yup. Did the same.
I know some people who run it professionally and it鈥檚 still a massive pain to operate. Better them than me though 馃槣

@dansup There are tons of scientific papers on this topic. It is considered the gold standard for a reason. Most recently it showed up in Apple鈥檚 iMessage PQ3 papers. (links can be found here: https://security.apple.com/blog/imessage-pq3/)
As for Elon: No comment (don鈥檛 want to deal with the assholes..)

@dansup Nice! Gonna check it out later.
I was planning on looking into the code soon. Currently it looks like stuff is still in the works and not yet pushed, right?
Will wait a little bit then 馃槉

@dansup Oh same!
Different IDEs have different strengths. Plus it helps my brain separate things
For me it鈥檚 VS Code, IntelliJ and Xcode

@dansup From an accessibility perspective, both? Icons are not always recognizable

@dansup You can always do an OIDC flow. That allows you to have a common login and identity for those who want it but still have separate accounts

@dansup Overall I agree.
I think where people get this idea of pixelfed being unfinished is at least 2 areas:
- the UX of the mobile apps is incredibly rough still. Not unusable but needs polish
- it鈥檚 not easy to contribute to the project. Some of the code isn鈥檛 published yet while some is there but you have major revisions you鈥檙e working on that make it harder to judge whether you should jump in.
I鈥檝e this itch to jump in and help out but it鈥檚 not approachable for me.

@dansup @pixelfed @fedidb @supapp Been there. It鈥檚 easy to forget that publishing code like this comes with a cost & responsibility. I had to learn that the hard way.
My recommendation is to find a core group of maintainers that you trust & collaborate with. That way it鈥檚 not all on you. You can delegate certain tasks to them and focus on what you want to accomplish, where your skills are best applied

@dansup It鈥檚 not petty. It鈥檚 perfectly valid to feel like that. It hurts when you spend so much of your time and energy on something and then you get negative comments
We appreciate you 鉂わ笍
