@darius this is also how I feel about celebrities joining general-purpose instances. Like an actor coming to town for a star-studded film festival and staying on someone's couch.

@feditips The Hometown fork also allows users to post local-only (via an extra option in the web interface or by including a custom emoji), allowing for discussions only visible on the server.

This also works in tandem with the regular visibility options, so (for example) you could make a post that only your followers on the same server can see.
