@Gargron Now #Twitter wants to "copy" content warnings (self "ratings"). They could just spend 13 M€ on a migration plan from their current codebase to #Mastodon and be done with it. :)

@darius I'm sorry, I mixed up with #Friendica. All I know is what this one line of documentation says:
https://github.com/friendica/friendica/wiki/How-to:-import-Atom-RSS-Feed
I'm not sure, but I believe @cybersecurity is an example of a "contact" created by importing an RSS feed.

@darius It's going to be fascinating to see what happens to instances like @toot.community which in 24 hours went from 0 to 15k users. An mid-sized town of people who have nothing in common apart from having woken up to the news of Mastodon on that day, and found it as the only option in the official signup process.

@Janetgunter We had a discussion about this a few weeks ago and this list was the result: https://codeberg.org/fediverse/fediparty/pulls/85/files
I still have to turn it into a wiki page.

@Janetgunter Indeed my list is not exactly what you asked for. In my experience an unwritten process tends to be undemocratic. OTOH, if you write down your processes, suddenly you have the bylaws of an association. In some jurisdictions it's immediately active as such even if unregistered.
Concretely, when it comes to managing a website, if the domain name is registered in the name of an individual, that person has veto power on everything. Any process will break down at the first disagreement.

@Gargron What's ATP? I find AppleTalk Transaction Protocol, Autonomous Transport Protocol. Did they intentionally choose a name that makes the specs impossible to find? :)

@Janetgunter @wchr @ilumium «We’re about to see what happens when someone actively poisons the “global public sphere”»
I thought we had been seeing that for a while now.

@VictorVenema I think it's business as usual to fluctuate around 1220.
https://bitcoinhackers.org/@mastodonusercount/109102812950738276
Only this month there was a light uptick where the number would almost always be above 1220, probably due to people setting up their own instances to migrate away from mastodon.technology after the 2022-10-06 announcement.

@Mastodon Underwhelming.
«It is also not possible for any third party server to insert ad-like posts into your home feed.»
Unless they deliver ads through "normal" posts.
«A server you are not signed up with and logged into cannot get your private data or track you across the web.»
Meaningless sentence as "private data" is not defined; does not seem to speak about "personal data" as in #GDPR sense.
#Instagram, #Facebook can and will track you across the web by linking different identifiers.

@EU_Commission Sounds about time to remove that #Facebook group. What about Discourse or even a fediverse instance?
Does the European Commission really want to be a joint controller with Facebook under the #GDPR?
